The Olympics – an unrealistic dream, indeed
Yep, next year they will be in Vancouver, and apparantly, if you want to go there, you should have booked your accomodations three years ago. At the last winter olympics, a team from my province, Newfoundland and Labrador, won the gold medal in curling. First Newfoundlanders with gold metals. They were rewarded at home by having a small portion of a highway named after them. So there.

In ancient Greece, the traditional celebration of winning the Olympics involved pulling down part of the city walls. Good thing warfare stopped for the duration of the games, I guess, as they were *constantly* fighting each other. In any case, renaming part of your highway seems like a *much* sounder plan to me. Perhaps the part can be chosen according to the medal won. Unpopular games may have the part of the road renamed leading to the local landfill, or waste management centre.
