Holiday Cards

I’ve put some holiday cards back up in my Etsy shop this week, head on over for a look-see.

We’ve got a set of wintry animals, and another set of a very tipsy owl. The owl cards are Gocco prints and the others are linocuts with watercolour spots. Both sets come with snowflake-printed envelopes.

I’m also accepting commissions for small paintings and drawings so if you’re interested please send me an e-mail at jnbarrett20 @ hotmail . com!

Happy Halloween!

This year we made a LOG CAKE! Finished off with meringue mushrooms.

New painting

I’ve got a small acrylic painting on the way to The Leyton Gallery for a new show opening this weekend. From the press release:

The Leyton Gallery is proud to present  Two shows from October 6 – 28, 2012!  ”Anything Goes” – a selection of new works by Jennifer Barrett, Jack Botsford, Jonathan Green, Peter Jackson, Philippa Jones, Bonnie Leyton, John MacCallum, Sue Miller, Toby Rabinowitz, James Rosen, Margaret Ryall, Louise Sutton, Jillian Waite. Also featuring work by Malin Enström, Audrey Hurd & Andrea Pottypondy.
Opening on the same day, is New Encaustic Work by Anita Singh.   Both shows have an opening reception from 3 to 5 on Saturday, October 6.

Contest time!

*Update*

We have our winners – thank you so much for entering, Cindy and Yadelyn!

I drew some video game characters from memory today and most of them are quite poor, so the first TWO people who e-mail me a list identifying everyone pictured get a small watercolour of the character of their choice!

Still with the Fat Birds

Catch up on some Fat Birds over on the Tumblr! Tuesdays and Thursdays.

Went to the TOAE

I went to the Toronto Outdoor Art Exhibition today at Nathan Phillips Square and here are my faves. The show runs until Sunday July 8th, 6:30 PM.

First up are these folks I have the pleasure of already knowing:

Fellow Leyton Gallery artist Sarah Hillock, whose Owl painting I especially love this year.

Amazing screenprinter Jacob Rolfe, who also has designed some of Living Planet’s best t-shirts.

Jason Holley, who makes amazing and intricate ceramic chainmaille sculptural works.

ALSO:

Hilarious and fun paintings, mostly of bears, some playing musical chairs

Some lovely, large laser woodcuts with screenprinted elements

Wonderful layered cut-out drawings, mainly of Toronto street scenes

Really fun screenprints incorporating vintage and animal imagery

Annyen Lam makes these super fine cut-outs; I really loved the streetcar pieces.

Lucky Jackson – who is making a piece every single day this year!

Summer Show at The Leyton Gallery, July 7 – 29

I’ve got a few new paintings in the summer show, check it out next week!

Summer paintings

Working on a couple of small paintings for the upcoming summer show at The Leyton.

Sesame Tees

I didn’t have much luck, but here are the designs I submitted for the Threadless Sesame Street contest a couple of weeks ago.

All characters copyright the Jim Henson Company.
