What is what

Today’s comic brought to you by the pursuit of knowledge (and the lack of something good on TV). FYI all of the questions were from today’s episode of Jeopardy!

Birdhouse

I painted this birdhouse from the dollar store for an upcoming fundraiser at Eastern Edge Gallery, Primp My Nest (which I originally read as pimp my nest).

The paint job is inspired by the old Fisher Price toy house.

The auction and party take place on Sunday, June 9th, 8:00 to 11pm at Eastern Edge Gallery, 72 Harbour Drive, St. John’s, NL.

Hi! I’ve got some new paintings headed for the Leyton Gallery for their new show, Celebration of Colour.

It’s also the gallery’s 10th Anniversary! The opening is on Saturday, May 11th from 12 to 5 and runs until June 16th.

There will also be work from Philippa Jones, John Green, Mike Pittman, Bonnie Leyton, Malin Enstrom, Peter Jackson, John MacCallum, Jonathan O’Dea, Andrea Pottyondy, Anita Singh, and Louise Sutton.

And here’s a little review from The Telegram.

Evolution of Abe Sapien art contest

The finalists have been announced in the “Evolution of Abe Sapien” art contest at Multiversity Comcis, so I can post up my entry now. I had so much fun drawing something like this. I was glad to come up with an idea in the first place. Click for a better look!

Boxed-In!

I’ve got a piece in this large show opening at The Rooms and the Craft Council in St. John’s next Friday, January 25th.

The call was for an artwork that could be shipped in a box measuring 12″x12″x16″ and had the theme of “boxed-in.” I opted to use comics as an obvious medium that fits into boxes. The (5) outer 12″x12″x12″ comic panels correspond with (20) 6″x6″x6″ panels, which then break down into (80) 3″x3″x3″ panels. The final piece is all packed up together for display, like some snuggly nesting comics. You can view pictures of my piece all unboxed here.

Some of the work is currently at The Rooms, while the rest is at the Craft Council of NL on Duckworth St. . After 6 weeks, the artworks will switch venues!

Click on the invite below for all the details.
