Silver Spoon, Part Four

I really love the driving scenes in old movies like Vertigo. The steering wheels in old cars were also ginormous. What is that? Where they directly proportional to the size of the wheels? Must look into that.

    I believe they were so big back then because you needed more torque – more strength and force to turn the car in the direction you wanted. This was before the advent of power steering – which assist drivers with steering through hydraulic means or electric motors to steer the car. That eliminated the need for a bigger wheel.
